Potatoes

I found this recipe this morning on Smitten Kitchen and thought "hmm, that sounds like a good lunch." So I went to my local overpriced "specialty" store to buy mustard. Since the only mustards they had in stock were French (who knew) I guessed that the dark kind was spicy mustard. It wasn't, instead it was some sort of French cheese mustard that tastes a bit too strong on its own. But on the potatoes, it was delicious. I ate all 5 of the medium sized ones I cooked. Sort of embarrasing.

On a side note, please download this. (If you want to pretend you're at a really trendy/trashy club on tons of drugs)

It's never too early*

Back

Oh, hey.
I'm back. I think.

Here's a one sentence update about my life: I'm trying to get my shit together, I am in a relationship with gray/black/white, I wish it would snow, I go home to Texas (my new home) in less than a month, the internet in our apartment is not working, I could really use a cappuccino.

The vest is actually really cool; I'll have to take a detailed picture of it soon. It's pretty dangerous living a minute away from Zara, I've learned.

Gelato

I've been eating a lot lately. Like the gelato I had twice today.

I wish my internet connection was faster so I could be more up to date on fashion week. I feel so behind. But I do have a goal for fall fashion week: go to Milan, and stalk around outside the shows. A girl I met here told me a boy she knew got into a show at Milan Fashion Week just by talking really fast on a cell phone outside the building, and pushing his way in.

Tonight I'm dressing like a fashion skank for a Chingy show at a bar down the street from my apartment. Awesome.

Italy

Buon guerno! I've officially been in Florence for two weeks now, and already there is so much to be said.

As for my personal life, I'm living in an apartment with seven other girls and four boys upstairs. It has been a big adjustment, but we are all getting along for the most part. Schoolwise, I am in classes with mostly 20+ year olds. Who knew it would be so hard to be accepted by juniors and seniors...they all look down upon us like we're the dumbest things to hit this hurt. Sigh, oh well.

Now for the best part: shopping! I live right smack dab in the middle of two extremes: Miu Miu and Valentino, and super-cheap (cheap and cheaply made) and tacky clothing stores. On my way to class everyday, I must past Miu Miu and I die a little inside. But at least it gives me motivation to continue with my education.

Yesterday I purchased three pieces of jewelry from a shop called Piccole Gioie. I don't know if it was obvious...but I was inspired by Alexander Wang's recent collection. God, I love him so much. Now if only I could get the messy-rocker eyeliner down.

I can't get enough of that bullet bracelet. It reminds me of Angelina Jolie in Wanted; swoon!

Ciao for now!

Ciao, Italia

The bags are packed; now I will be forced to lug two fifty pound suitcases, one seventeen pound carry-on, and my purse through JFK, through the airport in Frankfurt, and to my new apartment in Italy--and pray that nothing is over the weight limit.

Needless to say, the sight should be quite an interesting one.

I've never been so nervous before in my life, but I am most looking forward to embracing a new culture completely. My goals include dressing like a stylish Italian woman (at least sometimes), learning to speak Italian (at least the important phrases), and cooking like an Italian (at least when I have free time).

I may not be updating much for another week, since orientation for my school is a week long. But as soon as I can, I will.

My first priority as of now? Buying European fashion magazines at my stop in Frankfurt---for WAY less than what I would be paying here.

Arrivederci, America!

P.S. How excited are you for Gossip Girl?! I hope iTunes puts it up as soon as the show is over.

Sorries all around

Wow, I completely stopped blogging. It started with work, and then getting my wisdom teeth out, and then all this college stuff, and trying to see all of my friends before they leave for school. Oh, and the Twilight saga plays a big part in my absence, too.

I really want to continue blogging though, especially since I'll be in Italy! So please bear with me as I get my shit together.
