Austin

On Sunday, I went to Austin with my parents for a little vintage shopping and sight-seeing. I had not been since 6th grade and boy oh boy has it changed since then. Can I live there please?

Blue Velvet was hands down the best vintage store we went to all day. And starting at 6:30 on Sundays, there is a live band and rum & cokes, woohoo!

P.S. I wore a shirt sleeved top and shorts today. I'm going to miss you, Texas.

Puppy Love!

I really just want the world to know (in case you live under a rock) that the SHIBA INU PUPPY CAM IS BACK.

Mint Condition

My seductive, "I'm-still-in-my-pjs-and-it's-10AM-but-I-wanted-to-post-something" look.

I stopped into Ulta a few days ago after I dropped off some pants at the tailors next door and came across this super cute eco-friendly nail polish. But...it was $9 and I didn't want to spend that knowing there would be a coupon in the Sunday paper (there was, for 20% off).

After looking at the few clearance items, I found a container of Mint Candy Apple by Essie--a color I've lusted over since it came out. Less than $9, I grabbed it along with a pale yellow for spring use. Is it spring yet?

Of course this color isn't, but it reminds me of the Chanel Jade everyone (including myself) wants. Like a cross between that and the paleness of a Tiffany Blue.

Hm, I never thought I would write so much about a nail varnish. I am going to start saying 'nail varnish' like the Brits because it sounds way cooler. And of course I plan on buying and testing out that eco-friendly varnish I found now that it will be $7.20 (hah) especially since it is more like the real Jade.

Hi 2010!

I love even numbers. This year will be a goodie.

I put together a list of goals for 2010, rather than resolutions because those are boring and unimaginative (typically). Here's a sampling...

  • Travel to a new place, solo.
  • Begin to learn French & figure out how to get myself back to France for longer than a weekend.
  • Work on a farm.
  • Read a ton -- especially books I should have read by now in my life.
  • Watch a ton of movies (see above).
  • For every 3 things I buy, at least 1 must be second-hand or handmade.
  • Write a blog entry at least twice a week.

There are more, and I am actually very excited about them. I even saw two movies today, both of which I enjoyed: Sherlock Holmes and Julie & Julia. Although it made me quite upset that Julia didn't really like Julie...

Well I know this is only January 1st, but I am highly optimistic about this year and years to come. A fresh year is just what I need!

So as my French phrase-a-day calendar begins,

Bonne Année!
