Busy Busy

Alllllright, this seems like the only thing to do right now.

I'll be visiting Connecticut after Christmas until January 5th, and I'm not planning on bringing my Mac because I need a serious break from the computer. Since I got into Texas Friday, things have been so crazy. I love being here; I do not love unpacking and organizing the contents of my bedroom and bathroom. On top of it all, I still am so behind on Christmas shopping, I'm still sick, and I am still missing one of my suitcases (my clothes, shoes, gifts...ahh).

Therefore, I'm going to have to take the typical blogger break. I will be back very soon though!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year's to everyone! (If I don't write until then)

Shredz

Two midterms down, siiiiick.

I came home after my polisci one tonight and made a large amount of homemade french fries for the apartment (trying to use up my food before Friday). I absolutely love making greasy food for other people.

Anyways, I made this shirt back in October when I went back to America for fall break, obviously inspired by Camille's post. I washed it for the first time last week and all the strings sort of got tangled, and it shrunk. But I still love it.

I am in love with these two dresses from Postlapsaria, an amazing store I found through (Into) the Fray's blog. I plan on buying a lottttt of pastels over winter break (but not in an Easter egg way).

Amsterdam, that is ;)

This past weekend was absolute madness. I could write a whole book on getting to and from Amsterdam; it was a mess. On Saturday, we were trying to go to the Heineken factory and got separated...and our phones didn't work. And I had to stay in Brussels by myself Saturday night...arriving at a deserted train station at midnight and trying to find a cab to take you to your hotel was incredibly scary, to say the least.

The good news: Amsterdam was beautiful. Our hostel was really nice--more like a hotel, in fact. The Van Gogh museum was incredible; it made me appreciate him as an artist much more now that I understand his life. I had a delicious waffle sundae from Ben and Jerry's. The tram and bus system was great. I really hope I get to go back there sometime and spend more than a day there.

Unfortunately, I didn't get a lot of good pictures. Oh well.

Now I should be studying for finals, which I realized is physically impossible. I don't understand how people can sit there for hours on end, studying their brains out. I can barely sit still for 10 minutes! Anyways, I have four left to get through before I get to go home on Friday! I have said this a trillion times, but I cannot wait.

Unzip my Heart

While I was eating lunch yesterday, our apartment lost internet which is sad, but happens at least once a day. Not knowing what else to occupy my meal time with, I decided to watch Style.com fashion shows on my iTunes. Ironic, yes (models...mashed potatoes...)

Any how, one collection that really caught my eye was Versace Spring 2009. The clothes were structural, yet feminine. But what really made me gawk were the hearts formed out of zippers sewn onto the dresses. I always love hearing the concepts behind a collection, but that one is great.

How much longer until spring? I want to make a heart zipper dress!

Another gloomy, gloomy day. I am very much looking forward to milder Texas weather (nine days!).

Studying for finals has commenced. I need to start packing for the Amsterdam trip, whose transportation is looking very interesting at the moment: multiple buses and trains, and a plane ride. We are also now staying in a hostel. Mmmm, to be a college student traveling around Europe. My first weekend away from technology in...a very long time.

More Wishing

Lackadaisical

Mmm, panettone.

Today, being the Immaculate Conception, was a national holiday here in Italy. Or so I thought...all the stores were still open and the streets were filled with people. The only thing holiday-ish about today was that there were no classes at school! I woke up late, finished watching Alice in Wonderland, and feasted on my mini-panettone which I added honey to.

This weekend=pure laziness. It was my last one here in Florence (since I will be in Amsterdam this coming weekend) until next semester, and the majority of it was spent in bed watching movies and t.v. shows. Tomorrow begins reviews in all my classes for final exams, then Amsterdam on Friday, final exams next week, Texas next Friday, and Connecticut the Friday after!

No need for color

I bought that mug at the aquarium last last weekend. The seals were a-freaking-dorable. And it is quite perfect for green tea when I wish to be healthy and coffee when I wish to get work done.

Today I started researching for my trip to Amsterdam next next weekend.
I. Am. So. Excited. But really, I want to visit the Heineken factory, and Anne Frank's house, and the tattoo museum, and the cannabis museum. I don't think that will all be possible in 1 1/2 days, but we shall see.

F/S/S

There was a lot to be excited about on Friday:

1. The new Florence H&M opened.
It was incredibly crowded, and frankly I didn't know what to do with myself so I just sort of wandered around in a daze. I did see many powder-pink, light tan, and gray pieces that will be making their way onto my Christmas wishlist.
2. Mama's Bakery!
After H&M, I went on a hunt for this bakery across the Arno (river) in the pouring rain with my friend. It is run by an ex-Wall Street businessman and his Italian wife, and was completely worth the walk. Why? Becaues they sell BAGELS. Real bagels! In Italy! Topped with cream cheese and Nutella! I was in heaven.
3. Euro gelato.
Also across the Arno. Pure, cheap, deliciousness.

On Saturday, we went back to Mama's for more bagels and cheesecake. And then to Tezenis (Italian lingerie store) where they were selling 5 euro bras (whaaat!). I also picked up a pair of hot pink tights that I am very excited to premiere tomorrow.

Today was less exciting (grocery shopping, homework, nap). I can't believe tomorrow is December 1st. Three more weeks until I get to see my new home, spend Christmas with my family, and visit friends in Connecticut.

No turkey for us

I guess I wouldn't be eating turkey even I was in America since I'm a vegetarian. But still.

Tonight I went out with my roommates to Tijuana, a Mexican restaurant, for "Thanksgiving" dinner. I know what you're thinking: "Mexican food...in Italy?! That shit must be gross." Well, you're not far from the truth. Especially after growing up in Texas, I'm sort of a Mexican food snob. But it gets the job done I suppose.

Pre Game

A large portion of today was spent eating and researching the sleep cycle. This is the first time ever, that I have practically finished an assignment before the hour before it was due. My original motivation was a "Happy Night Before Thanksgiving!" open bar at this club, but that got turned into a classic rock/80's hour with no open bar (sad). But I'm still excited to get drunk off of cheap wine and dance the night away; it's been a while.

Genoa/Geneva

I still don't understand why Genoa is called Genoa sometimes and Geneva other times. Anyways, I went there with people from my school yesterday. The aquarium was awesome and supposedly the largest in Europe; they had quite the wide selection of jellyfish, my favorite sea animal. We ate a lot of food and drank a lot of cappuccinos/wine (typical) and did a lot of walking...nothing too special.

Biggest disappointment of the day: finding out twenty minutes before we had to all meet for dinner that there was an H&M nearby, and having to rush through it. I did get a nice slouchy hat. Did you know H&M sells makeup now? Whaaaat.

Potatoes

I found this recipe this morning on Smitten Kitchen and thought "hmm, that sounds like a good lunch." So I went to my local overpriced "specialty" store to buy mustard. Since the only mustards they had in stock were French (who knew) I guessed that the dark kind was spicy mustard. It wasn't, instead it was some sort of French cheese mustard that tastes a bit too strong on its own. But on the potatoes, it was delicious. I ate all 5 of the medium sized ones I cooked. Sort of embarrasing.

On a side note, please download this. (If you want to pretend you're at a really trendy/trashy club on tons of drugs)

Back

Oh, hey.
I'm back. I think.

Here's a one sentence update about my life: I'm trying to get my shit together, I am in a relationship with gray/black/white, I wish it would snow, I go home to Texas (my new home) in less than a month, the internet in our apartment is not working, I could really use a cappuccino.

The vest is actually really cool; I'll have to take a detailed picture of it soon. It's pretty dangerous living a minute away from Zara, I've learned.

Gelato

I've been eating a lot lately. Like the gelato I had twice today.

I wish my internet connection was faster so I could be more up to date on fashion week. I feel so behind. But I do have a goal for fall fashion week: go to Milan, and stalk around outside the shows. A girl I met here told me a boy she knew got into a show at Milan Fashion Week just by talking really fast on a cell phone outside the building, and pushing his way in.
